Tahirih Justice Center in the Bay Area is reaching out to you to see if you have the capacity to help us serve our clients, immigrant survivors of gender-based violence, who are now more vulnerable than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has stretched our clients and our staff to their limits and many of our clients are living with daily uncertainty about their housing, food security, and finances, far and beyond their existing concerns about their immigration statuses. We are calling upon all volunteers past and present who are able to go through a short training on working with our clients to help us with research, reach-outs, and social service connection tasks, like helping clients find operating food banks so that they can feed their families or connecting clients with children to remote tutoring. We know that this is a time that is stretching many, not just our clients, to new limits, so please do not feel pressure to give time or energy beyond what you are able to. But if you do have time to volunteer anew or for the first time with us, we and our clients would gladly welcome your help. You are able to volunteer for however long you are able to (even 30 minutes once in a while would be a gift) and whatever tasks you are interested in (we will simply send out an email when a new task arises and you can volunteer for whatever interests you).
If you are willing and able to volunteer during the pandemic, please reach out to us at SFBayarea@tahirih.org and we will be in touch shortly.
Either way, thank you all for your consideration. We wish you all good health and security,
Tahirih Justice Center Bay Area Staff
