ORGANIZATION: Veterans Legal Institute

Veterans Legal Institute has constant deliveries that need to be made to the Veterans it serves, its donors, board members, and staff, and is constantly seeking volunteers to pick up items and deliver them throughout Orange County. Due to restrictions of COVID-19, we have a greater need of delivering items to prevent people from coming to the office.

Mission Statement

To provide pro bono legal assistance to homeless, at risk, disabled and low income current and former service members to eradicate barriers to housing, healthcare, education, and employment and foster self-sufficiency.

Description

Veterans Legal Institute provides free legal services to veterans that cannot afford access to justice. These services include, but are not limited to, complex veteran benefit appeals, discharge upgrades for those who are survivors of military sexual trauma or PTSD, consumer law, limited family law, estate planning for older adult and terminally ill veterans, landlord-tenant with the objective to keep veterans and their families safely housed, and more. The overall approach to Veterans Legal Institute is to remove any barriers to housing, healthcare, employment and education for veterans in need and empower them and their families into self sufficiency. While the organization is growing at a rapid rate, VLI is highly reliant on volunteers who truly fuel its heartbeat and champion our veterans in need.
