Role brief:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate JOOMLA Developer to join our team! JOOMLA Developers are responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including editing/managing JOOMLA themes and plugins. They have different programming skills such as PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

When onboarding your first assignment will be to start a fundraising campaign. Haiti Now will provide further guidance for you to have a quick and successful fundraiser.

We are expecting you to have a strong understanding of the latest JOOMLA trends.

JOOMLA Developer duties and responsibilities:

Developing and implementing new features and functionality

Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture

Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of JOOMLA.

Helping formulate an effective, responsive design

Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery

Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications

Experience developing responsive design websites

Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.

Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers

Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages

Strong understanding of PHP back-end development

Currently we are using Parallax Pro by Studiopress (Genesis Framework)

Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of Web Development experience with strong Joomla and PHP is a must.

Bachelor’s required, IT background preferred

2 years experience with website development and management preferred

Website development certifications preferred (images needed if available)

Knowledge of and expertise with Web Applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP, API, custom post types, custom post meta, templating, themes. plugins, coding standards, security (understands key vulnerabilities, and general principals), etc

server and database administration

specializing in PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, and SQL (MySQL and MS SQL)

Git

Cross platform and cross browser: able to perform browser testing including mobile

Fluent in spoken and written English, able to communicate clearly and consistently

Knowledge of Slack, Trello and Google drive.

Familiarity with Agile frameworks is a plus

Ability to commit volunteering to 7+ hour work weeks
