Would you consider volunteering for the Women Veterans Program at the VA Loma Linda Clinic?

To Provide the reassuring of a compassionate companion for our women veterans in need while visiting the women’s clinic increasing the presence of women veterans within the VA improving the overall experience of women veterans creating a more welcoming environment.

Time Requirments:
At least two days out of the week (staggered) with the collaboration of Voluntary Services

Specific Duties:
Veteran Care: -Assisting Women with navigating through appointments; - Offer information or Answer question about the medical facility services, benefits, transportation, etc.; -Helping Women Veteran feel comfortable at their VA so they will be more likely to return for care -Building the trust of women veterans by being positive, trusted, and confidential volunteer -Positive peer support -Set professional boundaries.

* Willingness to support the mission of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS) and the American Red Cross
* Support all veterans by performing assigned job requirements such as: Greeter, patient escort, refreshment cart support, lab runner, clinical administrative volunteer, recreation therapy assistant, information desk worker, patient visitor, MyHealtheVetKiosk guide, pharmacy assistant, hospice/respite care/No Veteran Dies Alone volunteer, special event support, transportation program driver, professional medical volunteer, and many more

Qualifications & Training Requirements:

Must be a female veteran Willing to donate time Compassionate in nature Fluent in the English language Strong interpersonal skills Complete specialized Privacy and information through TMS Pass live scan and government background check:

* Desire to help people
* Ability to show initiative, communicate, and work well with others
* Work with diverse populations
* Flexible; easily adapt to surroundings and tasks
* Must be able to achieve a successful VA background/security badging check

Performance Evaluation:
Annual

Training: Will be provided
* Orientation to the American Red Cross
* VAVS Orientation provided by the VA
* Specific job-related training provided by the VAVS Program Manager
* On the job training
