Experts predict the 2020 hurricane and wildfire seasons may be among the most active we will ever face. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the mission of the American Red Cross continues, as it must, because of amazing volunteers and individuals. Please consider joining us in a temporary volunteer position NOW - and get fully trained - before disasters strike. Most disaster deployments call for a 2-3 week commitment and ability to work multiple shifts on consecutive days. Together, we will be ready when the time comes!
Disaster Health & Mental Health Services Team Members Needed
Calling all licensed health professionals! The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to join our Disaster Mental Health (DMH) Team or Disaster Health Services (DHS) Team and to deploy to national disasters like the wildfires or hurricanes. DMH & DHS volunteers provide compassionate care to victims and fellow Red Cross volunteers following disasters. Whether it is providing coping & recovery tips, supporting health needs, or lending a listening ear, our volunteers help people on what’s often the worst day of their lives. This is a URGENT need - volunteers are needed to deploy to disaster sites ASAP. The Red Cross will provided all training. Please Note:
A current, unencumbered license in at least one of the following professions:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)*
- Paramedic*
- Medical Doctor (MD)
- Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
- Physician Assistant (PA)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Social worker
- Psychologist
- Professional counselor
- Marriage and family therapist
- Current school psychologists and school counselors
- Current psychiatric nurses
- Retired mental health professionals
