New Volunteer Opportunity with JFS Akron!

**Volunteer Computer Coach**

During these trying times, many elderly individuals can be physically disconnected from their loved ones due to Covid restrictions. Without direct contact, the elderly are left feeling isolated and alone.

Technology is a way for us to connect when we can’t be physically together. Individuals can facetime, zoom or use other methods to contact each other. However, technology can be a steep learning curve for someone who isn’t accustomed to using it.

If you have a need to help others to be able to connect with their loved ones during these difficult times, JFS Akron is seeking Volunteer Computer Coaches in the Akron area who would like to work with elderly clients on learning and understanding these technologies. The Volunteer Computer Coach would initially work with a client for initial training session and be able to connect for further follow-up either in person and/or via email. The volunteer would also be expected to practice the training with their client.

The requirements are:

  • Detailed knowledge of how to use various devices, such as Ipads and other related tablets
  • Experience or a strong interest to work with the elderly
  • Comfortable wearing PPE in a client’s home and working with a client for 4-8 hours total per month
  • Availability during the daytime hours for the client
  • Have an Ohio driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Must be 18 years or older

If interested, you can contact us via one these methods:

  • Call Laura Kestin at 216-378-3475
