Do you want to save hundreds of lives? We are building a remote low-cost COVID-19 Treatment system consisting of a sophisticated Ventilator, an oxygen concentrator, a biometric sensor and a remote drug administration system.

The Ventilator is well on its way to being finished and is the most complicated part of the system. It is designed for full automation but we will start with partial automation at first. One of the most important milestones to achieve that step is to gather the right information. We have identified a number of sensors that can make up a very small and simple yet immensely useful device near the face, connected to the mask. We have proven the concept but now need help to design it to a practical device that can interface with the patient and do the required measurements reliably.

We are looking for biomechanical engineers and electrical engineers who can consider some more design choices for possible additional sensors, design a PCB and a plastic case to accommodate these sensors, build a prototype, test it and prepare it for mass production in record time. Ultimately this module will be directly implemented into the mask itself and will provide the doctor with critical information about the patient such as blood pressure, patient temperature, heart rate, blood oxygenation and possibly even blood clot density and blood flow.

Minimal Requirements

  • Experience with noise-sensitive sensor circuits.
  • 3+ professional experience with electrical circuits.
  • can understand the underlying principles of the measurements.
  • considering practical challenges such as biocompatibility and humidity protection.

Ideal Requirements
  • experience with flexible circuits.
  • 10+ years of professional experience with electrical circuits.
  • background in the medical device industry

You will be provided with samples of the sensors but you need prototyping equipment yourself.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the world's medical workforce fighting COVID-19

Description

Every Year 4.2 million children under 5 are desperate for oxygen. 800,000 mothers lose their child every year because of Pneumonia, a lung disease often requiring oxygen. This toll is higher than for any other disease in the world. What hospitals in the US and Europe consider one of the most essential treatments is not available for many. The problem, oxygen concentrators keep breaking down in the high humidity, temperature and dust environments, burn through during energy spikes when the power comes back online after one of the many outages or simply breaks and nobody knows how to repair it.

We have set out to change this and develop an oxygen concentrator that will make public health investments much more effective. Our first calculations suggest that we could lower the cost of a child's life by as much as two-thirds. Due to our organization working with volunteers we can reduce the development cost but bringing a medical device to market is hard work and we expect that you meet the requirements and are responsive and transparent with your skills and availability.
