Mission Statement
The California Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit lobby group made of ordinary citizens and volunteers focused on making our communities a safe haven for human rights and individual liberty.
Description
The CCLA was originally founded to advocate for civil liberties and human rights in the State of California. Our work has primarily focused on online education and legislative advocacy in the California State Legislature and the Governor's Office. We have lobbied, supported, and sponsored many legislative changes over the years including immigrant rights, criminal justice reform, license plate and smart phone surveillance protections, and victims of religious sexual abuse. After the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing police violence, and the rise of fascism, the CCLA has decided to expand its scope to national issues, sponsor an online media outlet, and start a training program to facilitate the building of a large coalition of leftist organizations to communicate left ideals and principles in the U.S. Congress and all 50 state legislatures.
