ORGANIZATION: ADVOCATES ABROAD

OVERVIEW:

The Administrative & Managerial Team plays a vital role supporting and maintaining the internal structure of Advocates Abroad. This team work directly with senior management and Directors to ensure effective and timely aid for asylum seekers and refugees.

POSITION DURATION:

The recommended commitment is 15 hours per week for a minimum commitment for three months, with option to extend. Long term applicants given strong preference.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist with ad hoc duties for program coordination and team support

  • Scheduling of applicant interviews

  • Team calendar management

  • Fundraising and donor communications

  • Social media

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience, 10+ years preferred.

  • Completion of graduate degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • Passion for human rights, asylum seeker and refugee welfare;

  • Skilled in culturally diverse professional settings and time zones;

  • Confident with basic computer skills; excel, word, outlook, Google suite;

  • Access to reliable internet and computer to enable remote work;

  • Fluency in English.

Advocates is a legal aid and MHPSS non-profit that has supported refugees and asylum applicants in the European Union and elsewhere in the world, since it was founded in 2016 by an American lawyer who saw that lawyers could make a difference to refugees seeking asylum and safety in Greece and other European Union states. Over 1000 Advocates volunteer lawyers, MHPPS specialists, and interpreters have served in field missions and remotely to help over 40,000 refugees. The heart of Advocates mission is to support people applying for protection to protect them from being returned to deadly threats in the countries they fled.

Advocates Abroad is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to upholding human rights of refugees and asylum applicants.

Advocates, both field & remote, are local & foreign attorneys, interpreters, asylum experts and medical professionals.

Since 2016, Advocates teams have been trained and deployed to various locations to provide critical legal aid to thousands of refugees and asylum seekers in the EU and Middle East.

Advocates Abroad does not accept any form of compensation from any refugee or asylum seeker for any service provided.

Advocates Abroad serves all refugees and asylum seekers in need, without discrimination of background or identity.
