The Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store raises vital funds to support Blue Ridge Humane Society's mission of improving the quality of life for animals in Henderson County and surrounding regions through adoption, outreach, and education.

This important position of Sales Floor helps maintain smooth, efficient store operations. Your presence also helps discourage shoplifting and price-switching. It is great for those who are self-motivated and are able to anticipate the needs of both our store and our customers.

You would sign-up for either an AM (9:30 am - 1:00 pm) or PM (1:00-4:30 pm) shift on a given day and commit to being regularly available during that time.

During your shift, you should:

• Be a helpful, friendly presence on the sales floor.
• Maintain appropriate distance (6 feet) from customers, staff, and volunteers. It is important that you don’t linger behind the cashier station; tight quarters make distancing a challenge.
• Be sure that customers are wearing masks and are doing so properly.
• Unlock display cases for customers. Please remain with the customer while they are selecting items. Once the selection has been made, lock the cabinet and take the items to the cashier station. Customers should not be permitted to carry these items until they are purchased.
• Ensure that the sales floor is neat and tidy. Pick up any clothing that may have fallen on the floor. Rearrange merchandise on shelves as stock is depleted to maintain a full appearance.
• Discreetly report any suspected nefarious activity to a staff member.
• Periodically return hangers to the clothing pricing area.
• Assist the cashier in wrapping large orders of fragile/breakable items. Wrap these items on the open counter area to ensure proper social distancing with the cashier.
• Ensure that clothing is arranged by size and color. This is a great thing to do if there is a lull.
• Be flexible to help with other sales floor-related needs as they arise.
• Let the cashier and/or a staff member know if you need to leave the sales floor.
