This is the final step in getting one of our two new greenhouses ready to plant. We have tamped down the weeds, tilled the soil, added compost and tilled again, and shaped the beds. Now we need to sift all the soil in the beds through a screen to remove rocks and clumps. We'll be working in socially-distanced teams of 3 people each, with masks required. Come prepared to get dirty and enjoy a few hours of our full-body-farm workout! Several dates are available for this opportunity. Our volunteer coordinator Laura will provide you with details and can answer any questions you may have.

About Lynchburg Grows

Location:

1339 Englewood St, LYNCHBURG, VA 24501, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to work with our community to provide access to healthy food and afford purposeful jobs to individuals with disabilities.

Description

At our nonprofit urban farm, we grow produce using all organic methods and distribute that fresh food to the community through our community supported agriculture program, through donations to other area nonprofits working to feed the hungry, through our FreshRx veggie subscription program, and our Farm Store. The farm is located in the heart of Lynchburg, near the City Stadium. To get all the farm work done, we rely on our small staff, our employees with disabilities, and hundreds of volunteers who visit us every year. Visit lynchburggrows.org/volunteer to get all the info on how you can join us on the farm!
