WHAT: Help provide L.A.'s homeless community with access to food by volunteering at a local food bank

ABOUT LARFB: LARFB provides food support to numerous community agencies serving Los Angeles, ranging from large homeless shelters that feed hundreds of people a day to small daycare programs. It is the second largest foodbank operating in the United States. https://www.lafoodbank.org/

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: Come on down with fellow L.A. Works volunteers to sort, stack and shelve valuable food to distribute to the hungry throughout Los Angeles. Make someone's day or dinner!

IMPACT: Volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is one of the best volunteer opportunities in LA. By donating a few hours of your time, you'll help us provide food for the 2 million people in Los Angeles County who face food insecurity. Volunteers help us by boxing, sorting and gleaning food that is later distributed through our network of more than 600 agency partners to our neighbors in need.

REQUIREMENTS:

ALL volunteers must bring a signed L.A. Regional Food Bank Image Release Form and LA Regional Food Bank Waiver

Volunteers for this project must be at least 18 years of age.

Dress Code: Casual attire and closed-toe shoes. Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, sandals, open-toed and high-heeled shoes are prohibited.

*NO WALK-INS ALLOWED. EVERYONE MUST REGISTER BEFORE 12 NOON THE THURSDAY BEFORE*

REQUIREMENTS TO VOLUNTEER DURING COVID-19: You must

not been or felt sick in the last 2 weeks

not been around anyone who has been or felt sick in the last 2 weeks

bring your own mask

if possible, bring your own hand sanitizer

SPECIAL SAFETY PROCEDURES DURING COVID-19:

All volunteers must wear masks at all times.

You must wash your hands at the beginning and end of the volunteer activity, and any time after touching your face.

Physical contact is to be avoided and 6 foot distancing will be required.

Please avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, or mouth. Wash your hands immediately if you do so.

Practice good coughing/sneezing etiquette.

In addition to standard health and sanitation procedures, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, has also committed to:

Implementing social distancing measures. Food Bank staff will ensure appropriate distance is maintained between each volunteer during check-in, orientation, and during the volunteer event.

Providing hand sanitizer pumps.

Sanitation staff will sanitize the facility once an hour, both inside and out, meeting room, door frames, restrooms, break room, door handles, and other often touched surfaces.

Providing gloves to all volunteers.

We will also display best practices throughout the event, encouraging everyone to wash their hands for at least twenty seconds and to elbow bump instead of shake hands.
