Love your phone and engaging with people?!? Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) is dedicated to helping homeless dogs who are overlooked in shelters! This is a virtual opportunity to assist a MA/NH-based networking dog rescue - you would work from home and not at an actual location.
Are you always on your device engaging with others on social media, especially Facebook? Do you like getting notifications and responding, liking, and commenting right away? Are you a high school grad or higher with decent writing skills? Are you fun to be with & work with?
Most of the time we have just one post per day and most posts are for a dog in need. We also posts success stories, special events, or an emergency dog situation.
As a Facebook Community Manager, you will be the face of the ARK. We want someone with a professional yet fun vibe. You will need to receive activity notifications, like every comment, thank each person who shared, and send a response to each comment. All should be done in a timely manner, preferably on the spot if possible, to keep the community engaged and appreciated.
For some very active posts, we understand that not all may be answered. In the 3rd example below, for instance, answering comments would be expected, but you may not be able to say a word of thanks to all 46 people who shared.
Some examples of what our activity looks like from September 2020:
1. A dog was posted with pics and a write-up. The post had 1,485 reached, 119 engagements, 1 comment, 19 shares, and 49 likes.
2. A video about a success story was posted with a short intro of text. The post had 559 reached, 49 engagements, 1 comment, 3 shares, 17 likes.
3. Another dog was posted with pics and write-up. The post had 2,723 reached, 259 engagements, 6 comments, 46 shares, 41 likes.
We are adding to our Social Media Team and want someone who's creative, reliable, and social media savvy to interact with our 5,000+ member Facebook community throughout the day every day, but especially M-F when we're most actively posting dogs in need of adoption. It's fun, too and you WON'T be monitoring Messenger and you WON'T be posting any content or manage the actual site. Someone else will take care of that!
This is a fun volunteer gig because we have loyal followers who really care about the types of dogs we serve. Before responding to this opportunity, please become familiar with ARK's mission (www.animalrescuekonnection.org) and check out our Facebook site ( https://www.facebook.com/AnimalRescueKonnection). We do need someone who feels passionate about justice for marginalized breeds and dogs with behavioral issues. So many of these dogs are still unfairly euthanized instead of being helped and placed in appropriate homes for a chance at a healthy, happy life.
Please read the expectations:
- Monitor the account
- Receive notifications of user activity
- Engage with followers by responding to comments in more than 3 words
- Engage with followers by thanking those who share
- Stay up-to-date on current social trends
- Keep the account professional and maintain a brand feel
- Forward potential adopters to ARK president and provide application URL
- Communicate and work with social media manager and other ARK volunteers
- Be familiar with animal advocacy groups such as Maddie’s Fund, SPCA, ARL, Pit Bull Central, etc.
If you're up to the challenge, we'll ask for links to social profiles you now manage, have managed (preferred) or use personally. Please see the two docs associated with this position. We look forward to your own ideas for this important rescue role.
Thank you! #JustSaveThem #ARKforDogs

Mission Statement
Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) bridges the gap between dogs in need and the organizations that can help them find new homes. We specialize in matching breeds that are hard to place due to discrimination and labeling with progressive shelters and rescues willing to take on the challenge of taking in these 'at risk’ dogs and giving them what they need to succeed. We are not a shelter. Rather, we are a networking organization enabling us to save more dogs’ lives by collaborating with existing rescues and shelters. We focus on at risk dogs that are behaving poorly in the shelter or holding facility and/or do not do well on their behavioral evaluation due to stress. Since our founding in May 2012, we have helped save more than 400 at risk dogs in need of transfer, by finding them a shelter or rescue and giving them a second chance at the life they deserve.
Description
A small organization that achieves a lot because of the commitment, dedication, business, and common sense of a handful of volunteers.
Too many dogs were being euthanized under the guise of labels like 'unadoptable’ and 'not place-able’ without evaluating the dog as an individual, looking at the dog’s stresses, looking at the physical environment or enlisting a training regimen. We decided to do something about it.
We focus on helping dogs that are displaying behavior symptoms during their confinement. Why? Because, in our experience, these dogs manifest entirely differently in new environments, after they can de-stress from the trauma of being misplaced or with proven training regimens.
These dogs can be saved if only other shelters and rescues knew about them. Leveraging our vast connections in the rescue community, we fill a huge void collaborating between progressive shelters and rescues and dogs whose time up or were not doing well in their current environment.
