ORGANIZATION: USS Midway Museum

The Air Wing (aircraft restoration and maintenance) at the USS MIDWAY Museum needs volunteers . Positions are available both on board and at the hanger at North Island. Time slots are available both on board and at the hanger 0700-1200 Fridays and Saturdays and a six month commitment is necessary. Individuals with air frame or aviation ordnance experience, in particular, are needed. Some experience with power tools and restoration practices is required . Base access to the Naval Air Station, North Island is required for positions at the hanger. If you have the qualifications and the time, we'd love to have you join our team of very skilled, dedicated and hard working individuals. The camaraderie is genuine and the perks are great. Description

The USS Midway Museum opened to the public in June 2004 and today is one of San Diego’s most popular visitor attractions with world wide audience. The naval aircraft carrier was commissioned in 1945 and served for 47 years supporting U.S. military and humanitarian efforts around the world. Nearly 250,000 sailors and officers served their country aboard the USS Midway before it was decommissioned (retired) in 1992. Museum includes more than 60 audio tour stops including nearly 30 aircraft ranging from the WWII era to today's technology in Naval aviation. Come be a part of this 'city at sea'!
