This at-home projects supports the animals in our shelter who want and deserve a cozy place to sleep! And, when they are awake provide stimulation. You decide to make either "no sew fleece blankets" to provide comfort for the dog and cat cages or make a "snuffle mat" toy or "cat nip toy using a baby sock". Instructions for all projects can be easily found online or we're glad to provide. These blankets and toys provide the dogs and cats with comfort, fun and stimulation. Mission Statement

Volunteer Fairfax is a private nonprofit organization founded in 1975. For the past 45 years, our mission has been to create a better community through service, to mobilize people and resources to benefit the community and to connect individuals, youth, groups and corporations to volunteer opportunities.

Description

As the regional volunteer center for the National Capital region, Volunteer Fairfax serves the community in a wide variety of ways.

We provide Information and Referral services to community residents interested in volunteering through VolunteerNow. Individuals may also become engaged though a variety of service programs the Center offers including Volunteers for Change, which provides evening and weekend volunteer projects for busy adults; RSVP, a service program that invites people who are 55+ to engage in their community; and, Volunteer Emergency Management Team, a group of volunteers specially trained and prepared to help the community in the event of a disaster. Additionally, for those seeking opportunities to serve court-appointed hours, we have established the Alternative Community Service Program.

Volunteer Fairfax regularly hosts special events and invites youth and families to volunteer together. These volunteer special events include VolunteerFest in October and Give Together in January on the Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Volunteer Fairfax supports both nonprofits and for-profit organizations. To learn more about our services check out our website, www.volunteerfairfax.org.
