During this time of COVID-19, hospice volunteers are sending hand- written note cards and are calling patients and their families. Hospice volunteers can visit patients in their homes if they are wearing the proper PPE (this is entirely up to the volunteer.) Volunteers do go through training. You can choose to be a patient volunteer or office volunteer. Patient volunteers can read, companion, do small chores for patients in their homes or facilities. Office volunteers can help with clerical work in the office. Volunteering is a gift one can give to themselves! Please contact me at kanesha.nixon@amedisys.com or 609-390-9792.

About Amedisys- Compassionate Care Hospice

Location:

956 Asbury Ave., 2nd Floor, Ocean City, NJ 08226, US

Mission Statement

Our focus is caring, not curing. Hospice is a "special way of caring" for the terminally ill population, through a philosophy addressing the unique needs of the dying patient. The goal is to affirm life during its final stages by providing holistic compassionate care to patients and their families. We provide access to hospice care for underserved or difficult to serve populations: by wise and efficient use of available resources, and by educating the community.

Description

Peace and comfort is something we all need. Compassionate Care Hospice allows you to provide for someone during their finals days of life. We have a range of things that can be done such as singing, reading, and drawing for a patient. You can also help from the comfort of your home by making hand-written note cards and quilts made from the patient's clothing. Don't want to be hands on with the patient? You can also help by assisting the office with clerical needs.
