EMPOWER YOUNG ADULTS: Help Youth Enhance Their Life Skills (Remote)

Quick Overview: Support young adults in their professional development and help them enhance their career skills as they are getting ready to enter adulthood and prepare them to become independent.

Mission or Broader Program Description: College Track is a nonprofit organization that is designed to empower students from underserved communities to graduate from college. From the summer before 9th grade through college graduation, College Track's comprehensive, 10-year program teaches students the skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond.

This project is part of RSVP at L.A. Works' Adult Education and Employment initiative. We are organizing a series of volunteer-led workshops with various nonprofit partners like College Track to prepare young adults for new jobs and college opportunities that will lead to a fulfilling career. Topics include interview skills, resume and cover letter writing, financial literacy and more.

Impact: Your choice to volunteer at College Track is a choice to support youth in a low-income community who want to make better lives for themselves and be productive students and citizens in their community. Any experience you have as an interviewer or applicant is invaluable to the youth. If you've ever had a job, you can help someone else find one and make their way through college!

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: As a volunteer, you will contribute to the whole group conversation, as a Project Leader facilitates the topic. You may need to provide timely feedback online (depending on the topic) and work in small groups with youth through online video conference.
