ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter

  • 23 people are interested

Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter is a non profit run entirely by volunteers. Volunteers walk dogs, socialize cats, attend community events, assist with cleaning, and perform many services both inside the county animal shelter and throughout the area. In order to run effectively we need volunteers who work behind the scenes from their home providing professional and administrative services. We welcome volunteers with a professional license (such as Veterinarian, Attorney, Accountant), those comfortable with technology, those with excellent verbal or written communication skills, and anyone willing to learn. All volunteers need to fill out an online application http://www.friendsofbcas.org/ways-help and attend an orientation.

About Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter

Location:

35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060, US

Mission Statement

The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter are committed to the well-being of pets at our shelter(s) and to finding them adoptive homes. Our focus is to facilitate adoptions through mental and physical stimulation for our shelter pets. We publicize the availability of pets through various media, social events, promotional programs and engaging rescue organizations. We educate and assist county residents on pet ownership and controlling overpopulation.

Description

The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The all-volunteer group cooperates with the county animal shelter to care for shelter pets and place them into adoptive homes. The group was founded in November 2010 and incorporated in February 2012.

Our two main goals are:

  1. Helping animals be happy and healthy in the shelter. We interact with the animals by walking the dogs and playing with the cats, which helps them release stress and pent-up energy, as well as improving their overall health and adoptability.

  2. Helping the animals move from the shelter into forever homes, foster homes, and no-kill animal rescues. We promote the animals in a variety of ways, including helping post information to adoption websites, such as Petfinder, and acting as a liaison for the shelter with foster homes and no-kill rescues.
