Build a Hut for us at your own home!

Mad Housers

  • 1 person is interested

Mad Housers builds small, semi permanent, wood-framed structures called huts, which we give away to our homeless clients. By owning a hut, clients receive shelter, privacy, and safety.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we use volunteer assistance to build our huts. At this time we are no longer doing group, in-person volunteering.

However, you can volunteer with us by building a hut at your own home, church, business, or community organization! We can assist you in purchasing the materials needed, sourcing tools, and give you blueprints to build a hut. Then, you donate the hut back to us, we will come pick it up, and deploy it in the field for a client to live in.

If you are interested in building a hut for Mad Housers, please contact ops@madhousers.org for more information.

Mission Statement

MAD HOUSERS Inc. is an Atlanta-based non-profit corporation engaged in charitable work, research and education. Our charter outlines our goals and purposes: To provide shelter for homeless individuals and families regardless of race, creed, national origin, gender, religion, or age. To develop low income housing for people in need of housing. To help people develop the skills and knowledge for constructing and rehabilitating housing and shelter. To increase the quantity and to improve the quality of housing in the world. To act, if necessary as an advocate for the homeless, to ensure that their moral and civil rights are protected. The Mad Housers believe that if a person has a secure space from which to operate, they are much more capable of finding the resources to help themselves.

The Mad Housers are an Atlanta-based nonprofit group engaged in direct action to shelter the homeless.
