The Foster Grandparent Program offers seniors age 60 and older opportunities to serve as mentors, tutors, and loving caregivers for children and youth with special needs. If you are interested in serving as a Foster Grandparent, you must meet income eligibility guidelines, and you will receive a modest, tax-free stipend to offset the cost of volunteering. Foster Grandparents serve 15-40 hours a week, usually 5 hours a day Monday through Friday, serving children with one-on-one, direct service. Other benefits include reimbursement for/or transporta-tion and meals during service, an annual physical, and accident and liability insurance while on duty. Pre-Service and monthly training sessions provided.

Foster Grandparents offer emotional support to children who have been abused and neglected, mentor and tutor children lagging behind in schools, Head Starts and day care centers,and children with physical developmental and emotional disabilities. Their personal attention helps these young people grow, gain confidence, and become full and productive members of society. In the process, Foster Grandparents strengthen communities by providing youth services that community budgets cannot afford and by building bridges across generations. They often serve in community organizations such as schools, hospitals, Head Start, and youth centers throughout the county. Terms: Volunteer must be at least 60 years of age, Volunteer must meet income eligibility requirement, Volunteer serves 15-40 hours a week for as long as they are able to.

Benefits: Meals, Accident / Liability, Medical Exams, Transportation Costs, Stipend, Education and Training

Entiltlement counseling, educational and cultural events, recognition for their invaluable service.
