Description
Founded in 1982 by Harold Benjamin, Ph.D., Cancer Support Community Los Angeles (CSC-LA) pioneered the use of psychosocial support to help improve quality of life for people affected by cancer. CSC has grown to be the largest cancer support organization worldwide with nearly 50 affiliates, over 100 satellite locations, and three international centers.
Every aspect of our program -- support groups, educational workshops, stress reduction and exercise programs, short-term counseling, and social activities -- is grounded in evidenced-based research that validates effectiveness in diminishing distress and improving quality of life for people with cancer and caregivers.
Through our programs, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce feelings of isolation and restore hope, regardless of the stage of their disease.
Our service area includes West Los Angeles, Central Los Angeles, downtown Los Angeles, South Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, and parts of the San Fernando Valley.
Recognized for more than 30 years for our service in the greater Los Angeles community, CSC-LA is known for providing the most comprehensive program of psychosocial support to people with cancer and their families. As always, all of our services are provided completely free of charge.
