Picture this: you wake up tomorrow & you have to flee your home, leave everything behind, wander without aim & live between settlement camps for the next 2 years, with the wavering hope that another country may take you in soon.
This is the reality for 100,000's of families emigrating from their home countries due to incivility and instability.
To help instill a peace of mind in refugee families - namely, the fortunate few who are accepted into the U.S. or are undergoing resettlement - we started a community project named Living Hope.
In direct partnership with RST (Refugee Services of Texas), we are seeking a long-term volunteer to help provide relief to 100's of refugee families who have lost their jobs due to COVID, and are now fearing loss of the stability they have fought years to rebuild.
How to know if you're a good fit? Here's what we're looking for:
- A sizable network of social-impact oriented / minded individuals (total network size of 1000-5000 across platforms)
- Ability to write strong, compelling post copy
- Experience in sales or fundraising activities, preferably within a professional environment
- Comfortable with ghosting & rejection
- Optional: 1-3+ years completing social media internship or role

Description
Founded in 1978, Refugee Services of Texas (RST) is a social-service agency dedicated to providing assistance to refugees and other displaced persons fleeing persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group - as well as to the communities that welcome them. RST provides services to hundreds of refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, and related vulnerable populations from over 30 different countries of origin each year. Originating in Dallas, RST now has service centers in Amarillo, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and Rio Grande Valley.
Refugee Services of Texas was founded in 1978 and have served almost 20,000 individuals from more than 30 countries, helping them integrate into a new home.
Last year alone, RST resettled 800 individuals, over 40% of all refugees resettled in Texas. Consistently, RST resettles around 3% of all refugees who come to the US - about one out of every 30 people.
