Westminster Neighborhood Services Christmas Basket Program involves Westminster and partnering organizations, coming together to help 300 families on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis.
A Christmas Basket involves the following: 2 reusable bags full of groceries (including ingredients for a Holiday dinner: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.), 1 reusable bag of hygiene items, 2 toys per child in the household (18 & under, still in school) and our goal is hats, gloves, socks and underwear for EVERYONE in the household, including adults. There are multiple ways you can get involved with this program.
Volunteers come help Westminster staff count items, put the "baskets" together and then distribute the baskets. Last year we helped 1,100 individuals and 671 of those individuals were children!

Mission Statement
Westminster Neighborhood Services provides education support, access to basic needs, and community connections to empower neighbors and strengthen youth and families on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis.
Description
In 1982, three Near Eastside neighborhood churches, including Westminster Presbyterian Church, began serving youth during a summer program in order to combat poor student achievement while providing a safe environment during summer months while students are out of school.
Recognizing that the neighborhood’s needs extended beyond the children and into to the families, Westminster began offering a soup kitchen and food pantry one day a week. In 2014, Westminster opened doors to its new Family & Adults Services Center which allowed expansion of services and programs.
Today, Westminster partners with more than 20 community organizations to assist with program services. The power of partnerships allows Westminster to meet the needs of the neighbors and help equip them to break down barriers that are keeping them in their current situations.
