Help us provide free showers to the homeless and underprivileged in Midtown! We are Shower Power NYC, and we are working to help increase the health and dignity of our less fortunate neighbors in NYC, by providing them with access to a free shower. Guests are offered a number of items designed to help them to care for their own health and hygiene, including:

  • Clean towels
  • New undergarments & socks
  • Toiletries for use in the shower
  • Other personal care products
  • Clothing
  • Laundry vouchers
  • Masks & hand sanitizer
  • Snacks & cold water

All volunteers and guests are required to wear a COVID-19 mask at all times. Tasks include: cleaning the showers in between each and every use (using bleach), distributing needed toiletries to guests, and helping sign guests in at the front table.

No one deserves to face stigmatization or preventable health issues due to a lack of essential resources for maintaining personal hygiene. We take for granted our ability to wash our hands throughout the day, shower daily and brush our teeth, but these are crucial activities that keep us healthy and able to take care of other needs. Everyone in New York should have the same opportunity.

Description

We are a non-profit organization that is committed to providing free shower facilities as well as hygiene kits and other self-care resources, to homeless and underserved individuals in New York City.
