The Youth Mentoring Program matches volunteer mentors with refugees ages 15 to 24 to lend support to their educational and career goals. Mentors help refugees feel more welcome in their new home and guide them as they become accustomed to life in the Las Vegas community.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Commit to one year of mentoring
  • Mentor youth for two hours a week
  • Support the youth’s long-term educational and career goals
  • Help with a wide variety of life skills, including:
    • completing applications for jobs and educational programs
    • English conversation practice
    • homework assistance
    • exploring financial aid and scholarship opportunities
    • participating in social and civic engagement
Interested volunteers are asked to:
  • Submit a Youth Mentor Application found at CatholicCharities.com
  • Undergo a brief interview with the Youth Mentorship Supervisor
  • Agree to a criminal background check through Catholic Charities
  • Be 18 or older
  • Be located in Southern Nevada

Since 1941, the mission of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has been to serve those in need - the most vulnerable - regardless of race, religion or creed. This leading community resource offers help and hope with dignity as it strives to meet the diverse needs of men, women and children in Southern Nevada. Through the generosity of foundations, grants, organizations and individual donors, Catholic Charities operates 16 programs providing support to more than 4,200 people daily and encompassing four core areas: Family Services, Food Services, Immigration and Refugee Services and Homeless and Housing Services. Catholic Charities also operates the largest Meals on Wheels program and Emergency Shelter Services in Southern Nevada.
