Reading Connections helps adult students in basic reading, writing and math, enabling them to increase their literacy skills and more fully recognize their potential as individuals, employees, and citizens. We are creating posts for social media based on individual student, volunteer, and stakeholder stories. We are looking for a team of social media volunteers to help interview and draft stories for Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms.

Responsibilities

Social Media Volunteers will interview students, volunteers, and other various stakeholder draft posts, and then send to the lead social media intern for review. The intern will share with the Marketing Manager who will post on social media.

  • Shadow 2-4 hours of class time to observe the learning environment.
  • Schedule 1:1 interviews outside of class time, and then create stories with pictures (use pics if the person(s) are comfortable - otherwise create in Canva).
  • Identify good candidates to either coach toward creating their own selfie video and/or record an interview on Zoom.
  • Attend meetings with fellow team members.
  • Keep a digital portfolio of your work.

Qualifications

  • Tech Savvy
  • Ideal for Communications, Public Relations/Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Business, or a related major
  • Service-minded
  • Enthusiastic video creating/editing, Canva, graphic editing, etc. is encouraged
  • Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and others
  • Knowledgeable of Office Suites, Google Suites, etc.
  • At least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Active experience on social media is preferred

Time Commitment

  • 2-5 hours per week, hours can be completed towards course/program credits
  • Hybrid opportunity with flexiability working in our Greensboro/High Point offices.
