Be the Heart of our Hospice Team - Bereavement Intern
The Care Team Hospice
The Bereavement intern serves on a volunteer basis and is selected and trained to serve as an integral part of the hospice team. The function of the bereavement intern is to provide support during the 13-month period following the death of a Hospice patient, through mailings, phone calls and/or flower deliveries. The Bereavement Volunteer provides emotional support by using active listening skills, provides education regarding normal grief responses, and makes referrals to the Bereavement Coordinator as necessary. The Bereavement Volunteer works under the direct supervision of the Bereavement Coordinator, with the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator. Assignments are delegated according to the needs of the Bereavement Coordinator. Training is specific to the tasks assigned.
Interns are expected to record their hours spent with Bereavement Coordinator by logging their hours in a communication binder at the time of each volunteer visit. In-services are offered throughout the year for continuing education. Volunteers are evaluated on an annual basis by the Volunteer Coordinator in conjunction with the Bereavement Coordinator.
About The Care Team Hospice
30600 Northwestern Highway, Farmington Hills, MI 48334, US
We are a hospice company looking for compassionate volunteers to spend about 1-2 hours a week with a patient in your area. Our patients simply need someone willing to listen, encourage and spend time with them. Truly, anyone with a heart for hospice patients can volunteer.
We are proud to be a part of the "We Honor Veterans" program; all our veterans deserve to have the best end of life care. In order to continue providing our patients with the compassionate care they deserve we rely on our volunteers, the heart of our company.
Volunteers do NOT give personal care. Companionship visits only.
