Goodwill Industries Big Bend

The AmeriCorps Trainer/Resource Connector is a Half-time position in the Panama City area Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. Career Training Center.

Position description: The Trainer/Resource Connector is responsible for meeting with participants to assess barriers and provide or refer them to services that assist Goodwill participants in obtaining employment and self-sufficiency. Resource Connector will provide services in both individual and group settings, through financial literacy classes, orientations, and other job readiness programs offered by Goodwill.

Responsible for creating a participant plan and documenting participant progress. Connect participants with community agencies that provide services that remove barriers to participants’ success.

AmeriCorp Members teach and proctor classes and mentor people living in poverty or who have disabilities and who need training in any of the areas offered by the Goodwill Career Campus. Applicants must be comfortable in one-on-one and/or group settings after becoming familiar with the content of the courses. Courses range from beginning computer to QuickBooks; Certified Nursing Training to Hospitality; Money Sense to Business Sense.

The AmeriCorps members commit to a year of service and serving 900 hours between October 1, 2020, to July 31, 2021. Members are paid a living stipend ($500/mo.) and upon completion of the full-year commitment and hours, members are eligible for an education award ($2,865).

Requirements/Education: Bachelor's degree or pursuing a degree is preferred. Requires skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Teams, and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
