By now many are aware remote learning can be challenging for families. Facilities 4 Families is a needs based pilot program that hosts small groups of children from 3rd to 12th grade in the Georgetown, Tx area. We are looking for volunteers that enjoy being around students, set an example of adaptability while assisting students maneuver the online schooling platforms, and would like to help students rise up to meet challenges of the remote learning environment. CPR/First Aid training preferred, maximum of 10 students in a group (if you have a student, they are welcome to join), social distancing and safety protocols are built into this program. Safety is a priority as we are looking to assist those students with risk factors that produce stress due to COVID-19 or Flu. The facilities chosen have gone through an extensive auditing process to mitigate community spread of viruses.

Mission Statement

Our mission at the Southeast Georgetown Community Council (SEGCC) is to facilitate community problem solving by bridging the gaps between neighbors, city agencies, elected representatives and other groups. We utilize a grassroots, approach in order to fulfill that mission by focusing on 3 goals: -Connecting community members through social and cultural events -Partnering with other organizations to better utilize resources and avoid duplication of effort -Promoting civic and economic engagement of Southeast Georgetown A community where no member feels excluded, shamed, or silenced and where all members -- of all races, ethnicity, citizenship, educational background, and socioeconomic status -- feel valued, respected, empowered, acknowledged, and included in the decisions that affect the community and neighborhoods.

Description

Southeast Georgetown Community Council was established to follow these recommendations. This organization, working in partnership with local agencies, organizations, and city entities, work to assure that the assessment findings of needs and concerns are heard and addressed. SEGCC will promote and encourage that the community find and use its collective voice to better their lives and the lives of their families.

The city of Georgetown is undergoing unprecedented demographic growth and changes. This increase has also challenged the public and social service sector whose capacity for care has not always kept pace with the growth.
