According to the California Department of Education, about 37 percent of students in special education in California has a learning disability. Our new program Kidsquest offers FREE one-on-one tutoring for children with dyslexia and other language disorders. The response has been tremendous and volunteer tutors are needed immediately!
Commitment: Two hours a week for a six-month period.
Help a child in your community gain literacy skills and make an impact in their life today! Take the next step and sign up for more information.
Safety measures we are taking during COVID-19: We are still offering limited sessions for tutoring in the library auditorium (with all county precautions in place); as well as setting up virtual tutoring sessions. Other measures we are taking:
Temperature checks before sessions.
Students & Tutors required to wear Face Guards.
Socially distanced spaces are ample.
Hand Sanitizer and disposable gloves available.
Disinfecting tables and supplies in between sessions.
Empowering adults through educational services and improving self-reliance for the family.
Stanislaus County adults need remedial education leading to a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalency in order to get a job or get a better job with a living wage. There is a lack of resources in our county. We are one of only four entities offering classes to prepare for the high school equivalency test and one of only two offering instruction in Spanish.
We seek to engage the talents, skills, and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. LearningQuest offers a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events, and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
