What needs to get done

Every 2 minutes a woman in the US is diagnosed with Breast Cancer and every 13 minutes a women dies from this disease. And according to American Cancer Society, Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer. With this in mind, our goal is to educate young girls and women about Breast Health, Breast Cancer, Early Dection and Prevention. We are looking for someone who can assist with designing our educational program. This will include creating engagement activities, a slide presentation, and marketing materials.

Your contribution will help us raise more awareness about breast health, breast cancer, early detection and cancer prevention in undeserved communities in an effort to end disparities.

Mission Statement

My Style Matters, Inc. is a grassroots 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that provides educational programs and hands-on supportive services to help build confidence in people of all ages that will lead to a better quality of life.

Description

The Kick Can’t-cer program provides cancer survivors with supportive services that includes: a non-toxic care packages, education on making healthy lifestyle choices and a wellness retreat. Through our community partners, we are able to assistance with free haircuts, financial support, transportation needs, counseling and more. Additionally, My Style Matters assists patients with advocacy needs to ensure that the patients' voice is heard and they also run an online support group called My Breast Years Ahead, providing support to women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds living in the Greater Atlanta area that have been impacted by any type of cancer. Currently, this group has over 325 members and was recently highlighted by Facebook with over 10 million views.

The Art of Etiquette
Because My Style Matters believe that the fundamentals of being poised, polite and considerate for others will ultimately give the next generation the opportunity to be responsible and well-mannered adults, they offer workshops catering to our youth. These include Etiquette, Children’s Manners, Dining Tutorials and Professional Image and Attire. Additionally, throughout the year, My Style Matters collects toiletries to create hygiene kits for the youth as well as new or gently worn boy’s suits and ties.
