Difficulties created by this pandemic are high yet the need to learn remains. For many of our students, this need has been heightened by losing jobs, having to teach their children from home, and navigating our ever-changing environment. As we have done for 30 years, LCOT will continue to provide quality adult education, equipping East Texas adults for successful futures.

As we continue to offer virtual classes and see the need for our program grow, we are increasingly in need of volunteer class moderators. Having volunteer help host the class, allows our teacher to focus on teaching and not on technology issues. Some of the duties include:

  • Taking attendance (renaming students in Zoom)
  • Contacting absent students
  • Monitoring the chat and communicating with students
  • Staying on after the call to talk with the teacher
  • Be encouraging and engage with the students and the teacher
