About the role
We now have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer product development manager to join ADC. Reporting to the head of strategy and operations, you will take ownership of initiating and managingthe new product "Concept to Customer" process that ADC uses to introduce new products to the market.
The right candidate will be responsible for overseeing the product plan and delivery throughout the product lifecycle, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver products that align with the ADC brand and vision whilst meeting customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a new product development strategy
- Propose new productsafter conducting market researchto identify customer needs; generate product requirements; develop new products to meet customer needs; and developtime-integrated plans for product introduction to the market
- Prepares a cost and price analysis on the development of a new productby utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; and anticipating sales volume
- Develop product positioning and go to market strategy by analyzing and defining the total market share, competitor market share, and available market share
- Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders and other teams to shape requirements, features and products
- Keep up to date with changes in the market that would affect new product development
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a senior product development role
- Investigative abilities are required in order to conduct thorough and accurate market research when evaluating product ideas
- Analytical strengths are important to assess market data and evaluate the production strategy
- Marketing abilities are essential for this position, as these managers are involved in developing sales and promotional strategies for their products
- At least 2 years of relevant experience
- Available to volunteer at least 7 hours a week

African Development Choices (ADC) is a UK-based Social Enterprise on a mission to reduce poverty in Africa by empowering local communities and their leaders to make more informed choices in the management of public resources so that they can independently meet their own needs for essential services. Improving public resources management is key to establishing a sustainable society. And increasing access to essential services, such as clean water and sanitation, is key to fighting poverty because lack of access to essential services is a root cause of poverty.
We achieve this using our unique approach to reduce poverty as follows:

- Raise expectations
- Increase public participation
- Improve management of public resources
- Increase access to essential services
By delivering access to essential services through our donor-funded community projects, we set better precedents in the management of public resources and the delivery of essential services. Then we raise expectations through education and support and mobilise communities to play an active and informed role in the management of public resources so that they can enact change for themselves. We achieve this by sharing information from our projects that provides a new perspective. It’s not the information that empowers communities to participate; it’s raised expectations from a new perspective.
