Full-service, comprehensive Senior Center
This is a full-service senior center that provides a comprehensive array of services for senior citizens, including social and recreational events, meals, health clinics and public education, home health services and the Senior Companion Program.
Senior Companions assist clients in the activities of their daily life, such as social & recreation, personal assistance, nutritional support, respite care, home management and client education and advocacy. Personal 1 to 1 assistance is provided to our clients to allow them to remain independent and live at home.
Terms: Site is handicapped accessible, Volunteer must be at least 55 years of age, Volunteer must meet income eligibility requirement, Volunteer serves 20 hours a week for a year

Description
HELP ADULTS IN NEED OF EXTRA ASSISTANCE
Through the Senior Companion Program, people age 55 and older provide assistance and friendship to homebound adults. Senior Companions serve frail older adults and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, and those with terminal illnesses. Senior Companions usually serve two to four clients on a weekly basis, serving 15 to 40 hours a week. If you are interested in being a Senior Companion, you must meet income eligibility requirements, and for your time you will receive a modest, tax-free stipend to offset the cost of volunteering. Other benefits include reimbursement for transportation, some meals during service, an annual physical, and accident and liability insurance while on duty. Pre-Service and monthly training sessions provided.
