Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County & Greater Apopka, Inc.

We are looking for individuals to be mentors in a financial literacy program designed to help prospective homeowners to be financially independent and confident.

This will be a 6-month commitment, where mentors will meet virtually with their mentees twice a month. The meeting times (and place if both parties would rather conduct them in-person) will be decided on by both mentor and mentee.

Mentors are expected to:

  • Have experience as a successful homeowner
  • Be able to read a Credit Report, and give advice on fixing bad credit
  • Know how to put together a budget
Each Focus Mentor will attend a training session on how to work with people in poverty, how to create SMART Goals, and the Habitat program requirements.

Please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@habitat-sa.org with any inquiries!

Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County & Greater Apopka is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to build and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in partnership with low- and very low-income residents in Seminole County and Apopka.

While our origins are Christian in nature, we do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual identity, age or any other factor. Simply put, we seek to give people of all backgrounds a hand up -- not a handout -- in order to ensure a better life and a brighter future. Hardworking & deserving families partner with our organization to achieve the American dream of homeownership. By proving a housing need, demonstrating their ability to pay and fulfilling their partnership requirement, partner families are transformed into homeowners. Habitat Seminole & Apopka has served nearly 130 families in its 20 years, but the need for affordable housing in our commnunity continues to grow. By partnering with local leaders, corporations & small businesses, philanthropic foundations and individuals, we hope to achieve our vision of a world in which everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to live.
