The Boys and Girls Club of Vista is seeking homework volunteers to work with our 4th-5th grade Club members. You will be working alongside staff members and other volunteers to encourage and uplift the 4th-5th grade group during the distance learning day. These Club members need your help staying focused and on task during what for most is their first online schooling experience. Members will need assistance in order to achieve academic success, develop learning strategies, and excel in math/reading/writing. Description
Established in 1963, BGCV meets the needs of youth ages 5-18 regularly at five program sites serving youth residing primarily in Vista and Oceanside, California. BGCV is open "when kids need us most" - after school, on most school holidays and during the summer. BGCV offers safe places just for kids where they can learn, grow, and succeed.
Club programs help Club members build healthy habits for life and how to be resilient leaders through mentorship, accountability while developing a growth mindset.
Club programs include:
- Education: Career Launch, STEM, music and homework assistance and literacy practice
- Health and Wellness: health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement and a Children’s Food Garden
- Leadership and Service: leadership development opportunities for youth.
- Sports and Recreation: comprehensive sports and recreational fitness programs.
