The Boys and Girls Club of Vista is seeking homework volunteers to work with one of our most energetic groups of Club members, students' grades K -1st. You will be working alongside staff members and other volunteers who run the K -1st group to aid club member with distance learning, subject may include but are not limited to: math, reading, writing, etc. These Club members need your help staying focused and on task during what for most is their first schooling experience. As a volunteer your encouragement and positive attitude will help build great futures for the next generations. If you feel you can help, please e-mail sierra@bgcvista.com expressing your interest.

Description

Established in 1963, BGCV meets the needs of youth ages 5-18 regularly at five program sites serving youth residing primarily in Vista and Oceanside, California. BGCV is open "when kids need us most" - after school, on most school holidays and during the summer. BGCV offers safe places just for kids where they can learn, grow, and succeed.

Club programs help Club members build healthy habits for life and how to be resilient leaders through mentorship, accountability while developing a growth mindset.

Club programs include:

  • Education: Career Launch, STEM, music and homework assistance and literacy practice
  • Health and Wellness: health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement and a Children’s Food Garden
  • Leadership and Service: leadership development opportunities for youth.
  • Sports and Recreation: comprehensive sports and recreational fitness programs.

  • If you are a minor, you are not required to do a background check, but you do need a membership in order to help. The membership is $50 for the year, but there are scholarships available.
