Experienced horse handlers needed! We offer Therapeutic Riding lessons for individuals with disabilities. Our horse savvy volunteers groom, tack up and lead horses for lessons. We provide training so all volunteers use consistent methods for horse handling. This opportunity is great for individuals with significant horse experience!

Chastain Horse Park's mission is to empower riders of all abilities through life-changing relationships with horses.
Chastain Horse Park serves riders of all skill levels including riders with cognitive, physical or mental disabilities.
Our volunteers are a vibrant group of individuals who are committed to helping provide therapeutic riding services to children and adults with disabilities through Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy, and Community Outreach groups.
Our therapeutic program is part of each rider’s treatment program to achieve functional goals. Our volunteers work with our PATH, Intl. certified instructors and licensed therapists, helping our riders reach their individual goals, as well as caring for our horses, who allow us all to learn and grow.
Our volunteers are a critical part in meeting the goals and needs of our riders and horses, and we could not do it without them! We always need and welcome new volunteers. To volunteer, you must first attend a volunteer orientation. Experience is not necessary; we will provide all necessary training.
Our volunteers love the time with the horses and their riders. Many volunteers work with the same riders and horses every week. The relationships they form makes a huge difference in the riders' and horses' lives, as well as their own.

Orientation or Training
Lessons are typically one-hour long. Volunteers choose how often they wish to volunteer. It is ideal for volunteers to commit to helping with the same lesson each week so they will know the horse, tack, instructor and rider.
