Do you have some free time during the week? Are you interested in giving back to your community and helping families in need? South County Outreach has a volunteer opportunity for you!
South County Outreach is in need of volunteers to help in our Homeless Prevention Department! Every year, South County Outreach assists over 300 families in receiving emergency utility and rental assistance to avoid shut-off and eviction. This is an amazing opportunity to help families in need in your community and make an impact to help prevent homelessness.
Responsibilities:
Client Engagement Volunteers assist the Homeless Prevention Department to fill the vital role of returning calls, completing phone screenings, and administering rental/utility assistance applications. Additional tasks will include front end, customer service shifts to assess clients as well as provide in-person assistance with resources. This process helps the Homeless Prevention Department determine if a client qualifies for services from South County Outreach.
Time Commitment:
We are currently looking for weekly, ongoing volunteers that can commit to one shift each week (3 - 4 hours).
AM shift: Monday - Friday (9am - 12:30pm)
PM shift: Monday - Thursday (12:30 - 3:30pm)

Mission Statement
South County Outreach is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing hunger and homelessness in Orange County by helping people in need help themselves.
Description
South County Outreach (SCO), founded in 1989, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing homeless prevention services to low-income individuals and families in crisis in South Orange County.
Through a variety of programs, South County Outreach gives families in need the help they need and the tools to become self-sufficient. Our Food Pantry distributes nearly one million pounds of emergency, non-perishable and fresh food to an average of 9,000 families annually. Our housing programs provide subsidized housing and professional case management services to local families who are homeless or on the verge of being homeless. Our Computer Learning Lab teaches more than 600 students annually who are unemployed and underemployed to improve their skills and increase job opportunities.
We are a volunteer-based organization with over 250 regularly scheduled volunteers and 1,500 occasional volunteers that help throughout the year.
