About YWCA Columbus

900 Harvey Court, Columbus, OH 43219, US

Mission Statement

Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women

Our facility for homeless families offers safe, comfortable accommodations and child care for families in Franklin County who are experiencing an immediate housing crisis.

Located on the near northeast side of Columbus, the Family Center offers support and sanctuary for up to 50 families a night.

Professional staff offer an array of services including employment assistance, case management, housing placement, child advocacy and much more.

Safe and Sound at the Family Center offers onsite licensed child care for the little ones and out-of-school programming for schoolage kids. Our 24-hour facility is equipped with a computer resource room, laundry facilities and access to after school tutors.

The likelihood of housing crisis increases for those who live at or below the poverty line and the problems associated with a housing crisis are worsened when a family lives with abuse, mental health struggles, physical health issues, language barriers, or underemployment.

Our triage team determines the family's immediate needs, and will refer them to resources to stay housed or connect them with sanctuary and/or shelter as needed. Families staying at the shelter receive professional supportive services including counseling, employment and housing assistance. Those who enter permanent housing may have access to ongoing aftercare to help connect them with community resources -- and stay in their new home.
