The Commoner is a newly launching non-profit and non-partisan media outlet. We need writers and editors that are interested in writing local, national, and international news in a manner that prioritizes the voice of the average person.
Authors:
Regular authors would be expected to submit at least one article per month on politics, lifestyle, or sports. Authors should be open to debate and willing to work collaboratively. Most pieces are around 700 and 1500 words.
Editors:
Our editors are encouraged to work with the content production team to promote high-quality journalism. They will publish pieces by authors from a variety of political, economic, and social backgrounds. Our editors must commit to around 10 hours per month of volunteering.
Experience in journalism is welcome, but we are also open to all voices and experience levels.
You can find the website here: https://thecommonernews.com/
We look forward to working with you in the near future!

Mission Statement
Our mission to bring compassion and common ground to the media. We do not believe that political parties or the mainstream media accurately represent the average person. We hope to give people a voice to develop as a journalist and train people without traditional resources to be successful in the media world.
Description
The Commoner is a non-profit, non-partisan news outlet dedicated to reflecting the opinions and concerns of the common people. The voices of those who fall outside of elite - the majority - are often drowned out in a global media landscape dominated by big money and political polarization. The Commoner serves as a platform for these voices By covering local, national, and international news. We also promote sports journalism and community discussions. Lastly, we will eventually launch an educational project to teach young people how to become journalists for free.
