Frequency of posting may be rigorous to keep followers up to date on available dogs, medical cases, recruitment of fosters, adoption counselors and other volunteer positions, fundraising campaigns, and much more. Also included is outreach to adopters and volunteers to interview individuals to gain content for success stories and volunteer experiences to share with our followers the rewards of rescue. Those interested in joining our team will be asked to share a history of managing social media pages and participate in an interview process with our non profit board members.

Mission Statement

Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue is a 501c3 organization that was formed to rescue and rehabilitate the many Great Pyrenees in need of loving homes both in Texas and in the Pacific Northwestern states. Our mission is to promote compassion and kindness for this incredible breed, while ensuring that the Pyrs that we have committed to care for are given the the best chance for a new start with loving families.

Formed in April 2020 with support from National Great Pyrenees Rescue we received our 501c3 May 2020. With a start up volunteer base of approximately 70 individuals across the United States we've successfully adopted 100 Great Pyrenees and Pyr mixes to adopters across multiple states...and we've just got started! Our rescue focuses on finding forever homes for the Pyrs in Texas and in the Pacific Northwestern states, by placing them with fosters and adopters in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico and California. The Great Pyrenees is one of the oldest livestock guardian dog breeds, and for hundreds of years they have been bred to think independently. True gentle giants Great Pyrenees are intuitive, independent thinkers and formidable protectors and companions who may seem almost human at times!
