Use your social media marketing skills to support addiction recovery and raise awareness among treatment providers about the healing power of exercise. We are looking for someone who can help guide our social media strategy, create posts for social media platforms, review metrics, and adjust the strategy as needed.
Strides in Recovery is a small and growing Southern California nonprofit which collaborates with addiction treatment providers who believe in a body-mind-soul approach to recovery. Through our goal-oriented group running/walking programs, we create experiences which improve self-confidence and self-esteem, create camaraderie, reduce stress and anxiety, elevate mood, teach self-discipline and perseverance, and more. Our participants experience the mental, emotional, and physical health benefits of training together toward a challenging goal. And, we help them translate these experiences into the life lessons and mindset needed for long term sobriety.
The first year post-treatment relapse rate is 40-60%. Our mission is to help bring those numbers way down. You can be part of making that happen.
Thank you for your consideration.

Mission Statement
Strides in Recovery is a Southern California nonprofit which helps newly sober individuals grow physically, emotionally and mentally stronger so they can do their best at the hard work of recovery. We achieve these results by coaching people in addiction treatment programs to complete 5Ks, 10Ks, and half marathons.
Description
Use your passion for exercise and your friendly personality to support people on their journey to long-term sobriety. As a Strides in Recovery assistant coach / mentor, you will walk, jog or run with small groups of the newly sober who are receiving treatment at an addiction recovery program. You do NOT need to be a serious runner. You do need to be capable of walking/jogging several miles while being a good listener and engaging in supportive conversation.
Exercise, and especially exercise done toward a goal and with a team, has been clinically proven to promote the mindset needed to stay sober and reduce the risk of relapse. Training for this role will include an overview of the causes and treatment for addiction, with an emphasis on the physical, emotional, and mental health benefits of exercise in early recovery.
The first-year post-addiction treatment relapse rate is 40-60%, and since the pandemic, the number of overdose deaths has been climbing. You will be part of bringing those numbers down! Together, we will support recovery. Together, we will change lives.
