We are looking for a Clothing Closet Coordinator! This highly motivated volunteer is great at organizing and defining processes for sorting clothing and shoes.

Ever dreamed of working in retail, miss working in retail, or you just have the skillset and the eye to make our closet look the best it can be for Opportunity House Guests in need? Well, this opportunity is for you!

We have tons of amazing donors that have dropped off clothing that need to be sorted for Opportunity House Guests. All that is missing are a few good volunteers to help us to organize the highly trafficked clothing closet. Each guest at Opportunity House is given time to select needed essential items from the closet. This nicely sized room hosts everything from winter clothes and coats, to socks, shorts, work boots, and shoes, and even underwear. Our closet has it all! We'd be happy to have you and we look forward to seeing you in action and helping us to bring the Clothing Closet to it's full potential.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our Clothing Closet. Our mission is to help them to bring their ideas to fruition and we will do everything possible to aid in the endeavor.

About MIDWAYS OPPORTUNITY HOUSE

Location:

72 CORBAN AVENUE SW, CONCORD, NC 28025, US

Mission Statement

Our Mission, as disciples of Jesus Christ, is to serve the people of Cabarrus County by providing resources to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the homeless and disadvantaged and to collaborate with community constituents to develop and implement practical solutions that address the root causes of homelessness.

Description

Opportunity House is a day shelter that was started in 2007 by Dan Talbert. Mr. Talbert was determined to create an organization that would serve the community by meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and recently released from incarceration. Opportunity House provides access to life's essential needs for people experiencing these hardships.

Opportunity House provides two chef prepared meals (breakfast & lunch) daily, access to toiletries and hot showers for guests in need, access to free laundry units for washing and drying clothing, and access to healthcare & community resources to help with finding homes, jobs, and needed support and assistance with overcoming addiction. There is also a clothing closet onsite which provides seasonal clothing and shoes for guests in need.

Opportunity House also houses an organization called Narrow Gate which was developed after witnessing house guests and volunteers share in fellowship together. Narrow Gate provides a meal (chef prepared), vibrant music, and a message to all participants on Thursday nights in Concord and Kannapolis, NC. It is open to the public and is place where all can come and share in worship together.
