During these uncertain times, how can we help?

We are looking for a tutor for one of our refugee foster care clients who lives in a foster home in Allegan. The client has requested tutoring, and her foster family asked for an in-person tutor due to their weak internet connection that prevents virtual tutoring. This youth is an 18-year-old from Eritrea who does well in school, but would appreciate added support in helping her stay on top of her schoolwork and comprehend the material at a more holistic level.
This opportunity would be for a minimum of the fall semester or the full 2020-2021 school year if possible. The tutor would be asked to meet with the student on a weekly basis for at least one hour.

Bethany demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting children, empowering youth, and strengthening families through quality social services.
For refugees fleeing danger, the search for safety can be extremely challenging. And too often, people become numbers in a system that can feel impossible to navigate. That’s why we guide, protect, advocate for, and support refugees. In the U.S., we offer resettlement and continued support services in strategic locations.
Bethany Christian Services' Refugee and Immigrant Services program encompasses adult and family resettlement as well as refugee foster care for Unaccompanied Children and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. Our services for unaccompanied refugee youth include case management, counseling, housing (foster homes, group homes, independent living), classes (New Arrival, Life Skills, driver's training), and volunteer mentoring and tutoring.
We'll work with your schedule.
