Volunteer to raise awareness, funds, or donations of diapers during 2020 National Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 21-27. Disposable diapers cost on average $100 per month per child, are a basic need, and are not covered by federal or state subsidy programs. Many families struggle to afford diapers.
In partnership with The Beautiful Stuff Project, the Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (part of Somerville Public Schools), distributes free diapers to vulnerable families every week.
Here are ways you can help:
Make a donation, large or small to The Beautiful Stuff Project: www.thebeautifulstuffproject.org/donate.
Start a Diaper Donor Circle by reaching out to friends and moms to donate unused diapers or funds.
Serve as a Volunteer Diaper Genie to distribute free diapers once a week or once a month in Somerville.
Contact your State Rep to support Massachusetts H107, a bill to establish a diaper benefits pilot program.
