JERSEYSTEM is a grassroots 501(c) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ("STEM") education to 5th-8th grade girls in New Jersey underserved communities.
We partner with socially responsible companies and their employees, youth organizations in underserved communities, and civic-minded college students and universities. Together we develop and deliver innovative, hands-on, and online after school projects and inquiry-based learning opportunities that develop teamwork, 21st-century problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.
Join our mission as Head of Marketing and provide leadership to the marketing team and JerseySTEM for the design, development, and implementation of marketing material and internal/external communications of policies, programs and systems to align with and support the strategic goals and objectives of JerseySTEM. This position works closely with all functional leads to ensure cohesive, coordinated messaging and branding of JerseySTEM.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction to marketing team, including leading weekly meetings, as well as providing individual direction/coaching as needed
- Be a champion and resource to guide and instruct the marketing team to keep them on point
- Work with JerseySTEM Operations leadership to ensure strategic alignment of current and future goals, projects, operations, and ongoing messaging/positioning of JerseySTEM
- In conjunction with COO, develop a 12 month marketing plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives
- Ensure marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and meet organizational requirements
- Oversee maintenance and enhancement of JerseySTEM’s website
- Lead JerseySTEM’s social media campaigns, generating excitement and traffic to JerseySTEM via appropriate media platforms
- Provide direction to ensure marketing collateral and process documentation is up-to-date and accessible for those who need it
- Recommend measurement/analytics that support marketing objectives, and oversee their implementation
- Excited to be part of making a difference and give-back to the community!
- 5-7+ years of broad experience in Marketing or related fields
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or related field preferred
- Experience managing a marketing team or equivalent, and leading a marketing effort (i.e. product/brand management)
- Strong ability to translate organizations marketing needs to the appropriate messaging social media outlet
- Working knowledge of Canva or other design platforms
- Working knowledge of MailChimp or email service provider
- Familiarity with Jira or similar project management system
- Ability to 'cut through the weeds’ and get to key messaging and marketing needs
*Pro-Bono position expects a commitment of 5-7 Hours per week for a preferred 6 months.

Description
Incorporated in 2013, JerseySTEM started bringing afterschool enrichment programs to middle school girls in 2015.
We have since provided 1,000 students with exposure to afterschool enrichment programs delivering more than 20,000 hours of instruction. Students learn to code, build robots, solve problems and through that process gain self-esteem and confidence that they can be the leaders of tomorrow.
