Orange County Regional History Center

The Exhibits Assistant Volunteer for The Orange County Regional History Center supports the Exhibits Unit in achieving established organizational goals. This position is responsible for successfully supporting the full range of activities required to expand and strengthen The History Center’s client and guest experience. Event Volunteers are ambassadors of the museum and its mission. They are colleagues of the museum staff. Event Volunteers are agents of customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating, mounting, and installing graphics for use in exhibit areas
  • Scanning and enhancing images
  • Cleaning and repairing artifacts
  • Assisting exhibits team with project support

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Age 18 years with High School Diploma
  • Commit to volunteering 1 - 2 shifts per month
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, and lift at least 25 pounds
  • Excellent customer service skills

Description

The Orange County Regional History Center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and a member of the American Alliance of Museums. The History Center includes a museum in a historic courthouse, the collection of the Historical Society of Central Florida, the Joseph L. Brechner Research Library, and Heritage Square park. It advances its mission through wide-ranging programs, permanent and traveling exhibits, and limited-run exhibitions from other prestigious institutions.
