Newly planted trees need TLC to survive. Spend a couple hours to help make our Reforestation projects a success!
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, a Baltimore County-based land trust and watershed restoration non-profit, is looking for volunteers to help with tree maintenance. Tree maintenance involves removing invasive plants, checking planted trees to see if the shelter needs to be removed and removing if necessary, digging out the planting tube, and making sure the plant is upright.
Trees are important. They emit oxygen, sequester carbon dioxide, absorb pollutants, prevent erosion and storm water runoff and provide animal habitat.
Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and receive tools. We are only accepting minors age 13+ if they are accompanied by a parent/legal guardian during the event.
This is an outdoor activity. Volunteers must wear a face mask at all times and adhere to the GVC's COVID-19 social distancing policy.

The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) is a Baltimore County-based land trust and watershed restoration non-profit that mobilizes people and resources to care for the lands, waters and character of the Gunpowder Watershed.
GVC offers multiple opportunities for volunteers, students, homeowners, and other interested parties to beautify their communities and help keep their local watersheds clean. Our work is of immeasurable benefit to the Chesapeake Bay and future generations growing up in smaller watersheds further inland.
Tree plantings and stream cleanups in the spring and fall make up a major part of our activities. We also offer unique chances to homeowners, enabling them to use monies put aside for them as grants to assist with environmentally-friendly garden landscaping and stormwater control in their own neighborhoods. Every hand is needed - contact us for further information on tree plantings, stream cleanups, BayWise certification, Rain Gardens, Edible Bayscapes, or Rain Barrels in your community today!
