Mentor 13-year-old refugee youth from El Salvador in Grand Rapids

We are look for a male (preferably Spanish-speaking) volunteer to mentor a 12-year-old boy in our refugee foster care program. This youth is from El Salvador, and he has been in Bethany's program since October of 2016. The youth is currently living in a residential group home in Grand Rapids. He was in a foster home for over two years before this placement. His case manager is seeking additional support and companionship for the youth.

That’s why we guide, protect, advocate for, and support refugees. In the U.S., we offer resettlement and continued support services in strategic locations.
Bethany Christian Services' Refugee and Immigrant Services program encompasses adult and family resettlement as well as refugee foster care for Unaccompanied Children and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. Our services for unaccompanied refugee youth include case management, counseling, housing (foster homes, group homes, independent living), classes (New Arrival, Life Skills, driver's training), and volunteer mentoring and tutoring.
